Talking Clock
Stay effortlessly aware of time with gentle spoken announcements that blend into your day. Perfect for productivity, mindfulness, or simply enjoying a tech-friendly way to track hours passing.
How It Works
- Enable Talking Clock: Navigate to Settings > Voice Features > Talking Clock in-app.
- Customize announcements: Choose to hear:
- Time only (e.g., “3:15 PM”)
- Date only (e.g., “Friday, September 22”)
- Both (e.g., “Friday, September 22 at 3:15 PM”)
- Set intervals: From every 5 minutes to every hour.
- Schedule active hours: Define start/end times (e.g., 8 AM to 6 PM on weekdays).
Key Features
- Soothing voices: Pick from multiple voice styles (calm, cheerful, robotic) and accents.
- Volume control: Adjust announcement volume separately from other app alerts.
- Context-aware pauses: No interruptions during phone calls or meetings.
Benefits
- Focus-friendly: Keep eyes off screens while cooking, working, or meditating.
- Time blindness aid: Ideal for ADHD or neurodivergent users.
- Ritual builder: Use hourly chimes for Pomodoro breaks or hydration reminders.
- Accessibility boost: Helpful for low-vision users or those navigating time zones.
Non-Intrusive by Design
- Announcements play at 30% volume by default (adjustable).
- Automatically mute during:
- Device sleep mode
- Do Not Disturb hours
- App-specified “quiet times”
Example use cases:
- 🧑🍳 Cooking: “3:30 PM” → Rotate the lasagna!
- 🧘 Meditation: Hourly chimes mark session transitions.
- ✈️ Travel: “It’s 9 AM in Tokyo” during global team syncs.
Pro Tips
- Pair with “What to Speak” reminders for seamless voice integration.
- Use quirky voices for kids’ routines (e.g., “7 PM – Time for pajamas!” in a pirate accent).
- Enable date announcements on Mondays to reorient after weekends.
